Dr. Chizaram Dagogo Nwankwo (PhD, AFHEA, C.ErgHF, MCIEHF, Tech. IOSH) is the MD/CEO of Nancheez Ltd, a consultancy based in the UK which provides health and safety consultancy services to SMEs and multinational corporations.
He is a seasoned Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) professional with a decade of experience across various industries, including oil and gas, healthcare, manufacturing, logistics, IT, and education. Based in Rugby, Warwickshire, UK, Dr. Chizaram is known for his extensive knowledge, leadership, and commitment to professional development.
Dr. Chizaram Nwankwo is also an author and has published his first book, “Mastering Your Career: A Guide from Student to Expert”, a comprehensive guide for individuals navigating their professional journey. Drawing from his extensive experience across industries and academia, the book provides actionable insights on career development, from early academic choices to becoming an expert in your field. He has also contributed significantly to his field, publishing numerous peer-reviewed journals papers.
He is also currently a Chartered/Registered Member of the Institute of Ergonomics and Human Factors (CIEHF) and a Registered Consultant in the Occupational Health and Safety Consultants Register (OSHCR) in the UK. Dr. Chizaram holds a PhD in Human Factors and Health & Safety and has made significant contributions to the field through numerous peer-reviewed journal publications and industry collaborations.
Early Career and Education
Dr. Chizaram’s academic journey began with a BSc in Biochemistry from the University of Port Harcourt, Nigeria. He furthered his education with an MSc in Petroleum & Environmental Technology, graduating with distinction from Coventry University. His academic excellence continued with an award for the best MSc dissertation in the Faculty of Engineering, Environment and Computing which led him to undertake a PhD in Human Factors, also from Coventry University. His PhD research focused on developing an integrated process safety management and climate change model for the oil and gas industry, demonstrating his innovative approach to complex issues in safety and environmental management.Â

UK Health Security Agency/Public Health EnglandÂ
As a Human Factors Specialist and Senior Executive Officer, Dr. Chizaram provides strategic and technical advice across various departments. His role involves leading human factors projects, conducting safety-critical task analyses, and leading health and safety software development and digital transformation projects. His efforts have been instrumental in improving safety protocols and fostering a safety-first culture within the organisation.Â
Coventry UniversityÂ
At Coventry University, Dr. Chizaram served as an IOSH and NEBOSH Health & Safety Trainer and a Lecturer in Project Management, and Health and Safety Management, . He developed and delivered IOSH and NEBOSH certification courses, contributing to record student admissions. His curriculum development efforts integrated human factors and process safety management, preparing students for successful careers in health and safety.
Key Achievements
Introduction of Human Factors Implementation StrategyÂ
Dr. Chizaram pioneered the integration of human factors principles within the UK Health Security Agency, leading to a nationwide transformative project. As the designated Human Factors Specialist, he oversaw and advanced this initiative, enhancing the organisation's safety culture. On completion of this project, he was given two awards of recognition by the Deputy Director of the Corporate Health and Safety Team which lends credence to the level of diligence, excellence, dedication and commitment that Dr. Chizaram brings into his projects.
Development of Accident Scenario Training Videos
He innovatively conceptualised and produced accident scenario training videos, which have become a vital component of incident training. These videos enhance situational awareness and emergency response preparedness among personnel in high hazard areas.
Enhancement of Safety Culture
He elevated the safety culture within his department through the strategic implementation of annual health and safety culture surveys.
